This linoleum print was influenced by a black and white photograph. The great detail in the lace curtains intrigued me from the start and I loved the challenge. The scene was created with two separate offset blocks. The overlapping of the blocks creates depth within the piece with embossment and the thickening of ink. This subtle element translates into the form of the window seal where the subject is perched.
The design was sketched and carved by hand, then printed with traditional oil based printmaking ink onto 100% cotton, acid free paper. Each print is torn by hand leaving a unique deckled edge. Due to the handmade nature of block printing, subtle differences may occur, making each print completely unique and original. Rest assured, every edition is printed with much care and attention to detail.

I have a husband who pays attention, and so unexpectedly, on Christmas morning a couple of years ago, I unwrapped a cardboard tube. Inside it was a twin set – two prints, the prints I loved and wanted – the sweetest gift. I was ELATED. We had them specialty framed, and they live happily in unison together above our mantle, where I knew they always belonged. Thank you, Lauren! Thank you for giving visual life to a feeling and a memory that so many of us know, love, and cherish. You are MAGIC.

Since my husband and I moved from the southeast to the northwest last summer, I have tried to fill our new home with as many pieces and treasures from our former Appalachian home as I can. Lauren’s print is like a window back to the hills and the woods that we loved so much. Thank you so much for creating something that brings so much joy to my soul.

Lauren’s work is all over our home. I have nothing but good things to say. Her work is stunning, detailed, and clearly labor intensive. If we had a choice, we would live in Boone, but can’t, but we do keep the magic of that area here with her work.
